Louis Simmons’ adventure into radio broadcasting stemmed from his background in production. While in Los Angeles, Louis’ intentions to pitch his television show Smooth Jazz HD called for another means of advertising. After researching various streaming media
companies, Louis landed with Live365 and launched SmoothJazzBeachRadio.com.
Smooth Jazz Beach Radio, in addition to serving as an advertising medium for his television
pilot, allowed Louis to discover new and extraordinary indie artists in the smooth jazz genre.
Perhaps the biggest focus of Smooth Jazz Beach Radio is introducing new artists to listeners.
“My passion comes from the heart, as I love to share brand new music with the world,”
explains Louis. “It is an exciting feeling when you are able to introduce music as well as artists
to new horizons.”
Along with running his radio station, Louis has plenty on his plate to keep him busy. Being an
avid aerial cinematographer, Louis often finds himself in different parts of the country, pairing
music and aerial footage together, creating whole new entities. His television pilot, Smooth
Jazz HD, is set to launch later in the season. The show will highlight performances from
some of the hottest smooth jazz and jazz venues in California. While holding down these two
projects, Louis also has plans to launch another station based solely on independent jazz and independent smooth jazz artists. A
record label under the Smooth Jazz Beach Radio Network (now based in Jingletown) is in the works as well, dubbed Jingletown Jazz
Records. Also, keep an eye out for Jingletown Jazz, a compilation album featuring artists such as Larry Ellis Jr., Pete Gitlin, and more.
Proceeds from the album go to autism awareness. With all the projects on Louis’ plate, one thing is certain: quality smooth jazz has
found a home on Smooth Jazz Beach Radio. Make sure to tune in!
