With dozens of classic albums to his credit, Orrin Keepnews is one of jazz’s greatest producers. He’ll discuss signing Thelonious Monk to his Riverside Record label, convincing pianist Bill Evans it was time to record his classic trio, and his close bond with alto sax great Cannonball Adderley. After Riverside’s demise, Keepnews reinvented himself in the Bay Area with Milestone, another great label, and as the dean of the Fantasy archives, producing numerous reissues.
