This workshop explores many of his vocal compositions with lyrics by Mingus and other lyricists including Joni Mitchell, Rahsaan Roland Kirk and Ellen Johnson. This is not only for singers but instrumentalists or anyone interested in the music of Mingus. During the workshop we will sing and play the songs, discuss the construction of the compositions, provide charts to several songs and explore the meaning of the lyrics.
