In a career spanning six decades, NEA Jazz Master saxophonist Jimmy Heath has made history with Miles Davis, Milt Jackson, Donald Byrd, Cal Tjader and dozens more. A prolific composer, many of Jimmy’s 125+ tunes have become jazz standards, recorded by everyone under the sun. Meanwhile Albert “Tootie” Heath blazed his own trail, playing drums for jazz icons from John Coltrane to Art Farmer and Kenny Barron. Together with brother Percy on bass, the Heath Brothers put out a string of albums and earned a reputation as one of the first families of jazz.
